Crackdown launched against vehicle owners using green number plates , blue and red lights on private vehicles.

DIG Traffic Punjab, Sohail Akhtar Sukhera sent a letter to all the Chief Traffic Officers of the province.

On the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan, steps are underway to reduce accidents and ensure smooth flow of traffic by improving traffic management across the province. DIG Traffic Punjab Sohail Akhtar Sukhera has issued orders to take action against overloading, over speeding and vehicle owners fixing green number plates, blue and red revolving flicker lights on private vehicles.    In a letter sent by DIG Traffic Sohail Akhtar Sukhera to all the Chief Traffic Officers and District Traffic Officers of the province, it has been directed to take action against the violators indiscriminately and their  vehicles should also  be detained in  police stations. The letter further said that progress reports of the operations in this regard should be sent to the Traffic Headquarters, Punjab on a daily basis.

DIG Traffic, while instructing the Chief Traffic Officers, said that the ongoing campaign against overloading and over speeding should be intensified effectively and action should be taken against violators on priority basis.

He further said that the citizens should use only the standard (original) number plates provided by the Excise Department and abide by traffic rules so that they do not face any inconvenience while traveling.  He further directed the Chief Traffic Officers to continue the awareness campaign on traffic rules and ensure its implementation under personal supervision by visiting the field areas under their control.
