IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan chaired a meeting on official matters of Special Protection Unit (SPU).

Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said provision of foolproof security to foreign nationals especially Chinese experts working on CPEC projects, businessmen visiting for economic activities and ordinary Chinese citizens is among top   priorities of Punjab Police.   Special Protection Unit (SPU) has been directed to re-evaluate the security arrangements with effective use of available resources. IGP Punjab added that the security of Chinese nationals working on the CPEC projects, sites and other private projects should be freshly audited and  data of focal persons, drivers and security guards working with Chinese citizens must be re-verified.  He further said that all private security companies which provide guards or other staff for security to Chinese nationals should be re-inspected.  Supervisory officers have been directed to do regular inspection of CPEC project sites. The working of Chinese desks at airports should be made more active alongwith effective supervision and monitoring while the data of all foreign nationals coming to Pakistan especially Chinese nationals must be updated on daily basis Mr Rao, added.  IGP Punjab gave these directions while presiding over a meeting on officials matters of Special Protection Unit at the Central Police Office here today.

During the meeting, DIG SPU, Munir Ahmad Zia Rao, while briefing the IG Punjab, said that Chinese and other foreign nationals working on  CPEC and other projects  are distinguished guests of our country and their  security  measures are ensured at any cost. He  said that on the arrival of foreign nationals in Pakistan, security measures are initiated from the airport and security arrangements are also extended to their residence and work places on  permanent basis.  IGP Punjab directed that search and combing operations around the homes and offices of CPEC projects and other foreigners should be continued regularly and reports must be sent to Central Police Office regularly. He further said that special attention should be paid to modern training courses and workshops to enhance the capacity of SPU personnel.  The meeting was attended by Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan, DIG SPU Munir Ahmad Zia Rao, SSP, Additional Director South, Usman Ijaz Bajwa and other officers.
