A roadmap is being drawn up to take sports to new heights.

Director General Pakistan Police Sports Board and Additional IG Operations, Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan said that a new roadmap is being prepared for  promotion of sports and patronage of athletes with the aim of bringing police sports back to its peak.  He said that sportsmen of police are a valuable asset of the department and they enhanced the prestige of the department at national and international level by excelling in various sports in  past.  He added that coaches and managers should select new talents from the newly recruited police personnel and groom them appropriately so that new star players could emerge in  sports i.e hockey, Kabaddi, athletics and javelin throwing.  He put emphasis upon  regular holding of sports competitions at inter-district and inter-region and a talent pool should also  be set up for the players showing extraordinary performance.  He further said that former players and coaches would be appointed as focal persons for the promotion of sports at district and regional level and training camps would be ensured on priority basis.  He expressed these views while talking to police players, coaches and managers at the Central Police Office here today.  On this occasion, coaches and players shared their suggestions and problems.

 Talking to the participants, Chief Sports Officer and AIG Finance Ghazi Salahuddin said that a core body style sports council is being set up to solve the problems of the players after  necessary consultation.  International and national competition medal winners, coaches and managers will be members of this council He further said that all possible facilities including necessary training, equipment, TADA would be provided to the police players  so that they could perform with full attention. He stated that all the players should continue their practice and prepare themselves for sports competitions while the coaches should focus on selection and grooming of new players in line with merit.  Coaches and players admired the holding of meeting and vowed commitment to restore sports with new spirit and enthusiasm.
