IG Punjab chaired a meeting on official matters of PHP and Elite forces.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that hardworking, competent and dutiful officers and personnel are a valuable asset of police department and such officers and personnel should be benefited in all units including PHP and Elite. On the other hand incompetent, shirkers and corrupt people have no place in the department. He directed to conduct fresh audit of arms stock at all posts of Punjab highway Patrol and special focus on inspection of patrolling boats, number of personnel and fuel records at river posts. IGP further stated that an integrated system should be set up for regular cleaning and proper maintenance of arms while inspections and monitoring of river check posts should be done with the help of IT wing. Mr Rao stressed upon full use of modern information technology projects for improving performance and service delivery Moreover, detailed reports of PHP patrol vehicles, arms records, crime data, office inspections and audit should be sent to CPO within a month. While talking about the Elite Force, IGP said that it is a modern trained and specialized operational force of Punjab Police which should never used for unnecessary duty. Elite force should be assigned only to high profile operations and duties. The services and capabilities of expert instructors of modern policing and crime fighting should be used to upgrade quality of training and special focus be given on short term refresher courses for elite personnel, he added.
Talking about the elite quota he emphasized upon all districts and units for timely sending their designated quota personnel to elite training school so that courses may be completed within the stipulated schedule. He issued these instructions while presiding over the departmental meetings of PHP and Elite Forces at the Central Police Office here today.
Briefing the IG Punjab about the departmental matters of Punjab Highway Patrol, DIG PHP Riaz Nazir Gara said that under the vision of "Safe Highways, Safe People", all the PHP posts are being patrolled by dutiful personnel and as per devised SOPs of river check posts, patrolling and surveillance for the elimination of criminals is underway. DIG Elite Shahid Javed while briefing about the modern training program of Elite Force, number of personnel and other issues said that the soldiers of Elite Force are being imparted the best training according to modern scientific methods under the supervision of expert instructors so that they can face any untoward circumstances during duty. Speaking on the occasion, IG Punjab said that PHP and Elite Forces are very important part of Punjab Police and in view of terrorist threats, training workshops and exercises of Elite Force should be continued for better response rate and training . IGP further directed the officers to complete issues related to welfare and promotion of elite force on merit and seniority basis.
Every possible benefits should be taken by modern technology for effective monitoring and surveillance of PHP posts and police patrolling and close coordination should be kept with IT wing of Punjab Police in this regard, IGP added. DIG Elite Shahid Javed and DIG PHP Riaz Nazir Gara alongwith other officers were present in the meeting.
