Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan on Friday termed the traffic police personnel performing duty on roads and highways the face of the Punjab Police, saying these official represent the police department in public through their words, deeds, conduct and service delivery.
“Officers and personnel should work harder, diligently than before because eyes of the people and modern cameras are constantly monitoring your performance and behaviour.” Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan expressed the views while issuing instructions to the officers during a meeting of traffic police at Central Police Office here.
The IG Police said that he have already made it clear that corruption and mistreatment with citizens is intolerable and those responsible for such activities have no place in Police Department. Rao Sardar Ali reiterated that making issuance of driving license more transparent based upon modern technology to facilitate citizens is one of the top priorities of the department.
He directed to archive video recording of driving and computerized test keeping in view the SOPs for issuance of driving licence. He further said that efficient use of modern technology in traffic management and prevention of accidents is need of the hour.
