‘Discipline, training basic tools for better policing’
INTERNAL accountability, inspection, merit, discipline and training are be the basic tools for the better policing to combat terrorism and crime and the new ASPs should follow these priorities while entering professional life.
This was said by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Javed Iqbal while addressing the 37 trainee ASPs of 37th Common Batch, including 3 female, at CPO, on Monday.
Punjab Additional IGP Ch Tanveer delivered the welcome address. The provincial police chief said that he was proud to be the chief of the 2nd largest force of the country. He hoped that the new ASPs would focus their attention on curbing crime by establishing friendly terms between police and the Public.
He said it would not only boost people’s confidence but also enable them to have a sense of security.
Police stations have a pivotal role in the police system but they should not misuse power.
The IGP maintained that the government was paying special attention towards organising the police force on modern lines. He said police was being equipped with latest technology and training for ensuring complete protection to people’s lives and properties. He advised the ASPs that people should be given easy access to police officers at every level for quick redress of their grievances.
Punjab Additional IG Operations Rafiq Hassan, Additional IG Training Sarmad Saeed, Additional IG Special Branch, Punjab, Nasir Khan Durani and Additional IG Investigation Azam Joyia also briefed the ASPs of their wings.
Later on, a shield was also presented to National Police Academy Dy Commandant Malik Muhammad Afzal by the IGP.
