Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani has said that terrorist elements want to demoralize the forces and citizens by carrying out cowardly attacks on law enforcement agencies but Punjab Police has cracked down on their nefarious aims and intentions and Punjab Police will leave no stone unturned for taking such anti social elements to the most strict sentence and punishment. He further said that law and order, development ,and stability of the beloved homeland is not acceptable to anti-state elements so they want to harm the peace of the society through their heinous acts but Punjab Police shall continue pursuing them till the elimination of terrorist elements and their facilitators. He added that the vehicle could not move much due to the police check post near the blast and the terrorists failed to do much damage due to the presence of the police team. He further said that Punjab Police will bring the masterminds and their facilitators of the blast to justice as in the past and would compensate the irreparable loss of martyrs and injured by bringing them to justice.
He further said that the CTD teams were scrutinizing all the aspects of the incident and investigation is underway from every aspect so to say anything about it would be premature and would affect the investigation. He directed the police officers to refrain from commenting on the incident in the media as talking about it untill the outcome of the investigation would be tantamount to aiding the responsible terrorists. He further said that whatever would come to light in the investigation would be made public without any delay with the help of media so citizens should not believe in rumors or speculations. He expressed these views while talking to media persons after visiting the site of the blast in Johar Town today.
Responding to questions from media persons, IG Punjab said that law enforcement agencies receive hundreds of threats every year and Punjab Police in collaboration with intelligence agencies thwarted these threats even before this incident Police have received about 65 threats. He added that the CTD is investigating the nature of the blast and it is too early to say. He further said that CTD is doing its best in Punjab and due to timely operations of CTD no major incident of terrorism had taken place in Punjab in last one year and last week CTD also arrested terrorists during intelligence based operation. He further said that the involvement of foreign elements in every incident of terrorism in the country cannot be ruled out as they are the enemies of development and stability of the country. He further said that citizens as well as police personnel have been injured in the incident but the determination and morale of Punjab Police is high and no such cowardly incident can harm our morale in any way. He further said that assistance is being provided to the martyrs and injured in the blast, provision of facilities and repair of damage to the houses of the citizens is being done and the Punjab government shall stand by the citizens in every possible way. After the incident, IG Punjab also visited Jinnah Hospital Lahore and inquired the injured civilians and police personnel. The IG Punjab asked the doctors for speedy recovery of the injured and instructed them to ensure the provision of best medical facilities. CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar and DIG Operation Sajid Kayani along with other police officers were also present on this occasion.
