A three-member USIP delegation led by former IG Ehsan Ghani called on IG Punjab.

During the meeting, the implementation of the recommendations of the "Citizen-centric Policing Conference" chaired by the Punjab Chief Minister in February was reviewed.

The implementation of the recommendations of the Citizen-centric Policing Conference is strengthening the atmosphere of trust between the police and the citizens.USIP.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani said that steps are being taken on priority basis under the effective use of modern technology and available resources to improve the police service delivery system and make Punjab Police a citizen support force for the promotion of people friendly policing.  In this regard, implementation of the recommendations of the “Citizen Centric Policing Conference” held in February under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Khan Buzdar has been ensured.  He added that the conference, co-organized by USIP and the police, was working on recommendations for the convenience, protection and service of the common man, as well as prevention of gender-based crime and affected women in all districts of the province, Women help desks have been set up for the help and guidance of the people where easy relief is being provided to the distressed women citizens.  He further said that USIP should audit the initiatives of Punjab Police as a third party for the promotion of people friendly policing and also give further suggestions in the light of its observations to improve police service delivery.  He further said that steps are being taken on priority basis to increase the proportion of women officers and personnel in the police force besides launching awareness campaign on social media for recruitment of lady officers on the sanctioned quota of women.  He further said that all possible steps are being taken to make Punjab Police a service delivery force from crime fighting including effective use of modern technology and Punjab Police would continue to take all possible steps in this regard in future also.  He expressed these views during a meeting with a three-member USIP delegation led by former IG Ehsan Ghani at the Central Police Office here today.  The USIP delegation included Country Director, Dr. Adnan Rafique and Program Manager Komal Dilshad.

Expressing satisfaction over the steps taken by the Punjab Police to promote people-friendly policing, the officers of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) delegation said that the implementation of the roadmap drawn up by the Citizen Centric Policing Conference would bring relief to the common citizens of the province The delivery process has been fast track which is strengthening the atmosphere of trust between the police and the citizens. IG Punjab appreciated the cooperation of USIP in improving the police service delivery system.  For the convenience, the working of the police station is being improved and besides service centers, special initiative police stations and modern applications and new programs are being set up while at the same time special focus on monitoring and inspection is being maintained to maintain the efficiency of these projects.  He further said that practical steps have been taken to shift the police from force to service and in view of the convenience and service of the citizens, steps will be taken on priority basis in the future as well.  Addl IG Establishment Punjab  , Ali Amir Malik, DIG R&D, Shahid Javed and DIG IT Waqas Nazir and other officers were also present on this occasion.
