Vehari police arrested 167 criminals, 157 drug dealers and 111 illegal arms dealers last month.
02 Kalashnikovs, 16 guns, 03 rifles, 86 pistols, 05 revolvers, 02 carbines and hundreds of bullets were seized.
After tracing 154 cases of crime against property  Police seized property worth Rs. 44 lacs 84 thousand while 14 members of 7 gangs were arrested and Rs. 1.872 million was recovered.
 
On the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani, crackdown against anti-social elements is going on in all the districts of the province and especially crackdown against proclaimed offenders, illegal weapons and drugs has been intensified.  In this regard, Vehari Police under the leadership of District Police Officer Vehari Zahid Nawaz Marwat took emergency measures last month to arrest anti-social elements and achieved significant successes against criminal elements. Vehari Police arrested proclaimed offenders during the campaign and 167 proclaimed offenders involved in serious incidents including murder, dacoity, robbery and looting were arrested, including 15A category and 152B category. During this period, Vehari police traced 154 cases of property crime and after tracing the cases, they recovered property worth more than Rs. 44 lacs 84 thousand rupees while arresting 14 members of 7 gangs and ensuring financial recovery of more than 1.872 million rupees. Besides, while conducting operations against criminals, 111 accused were arrested and heavy weapons were seized from their possession.  Illegally recovered arms include  2 Kalashnikovs, 16 guns, 03 rifles, 86 pistols, 05 revolvers, 2 carbines and hundreds of bullets. 157 accused were arrested while taking action against anti-social elements and 95 kilo  chars , 4128 liters  alcohol and liquor, 14 kilns and distillers were recovered. In implementation of the National Action Plan, 66 cases were registered out of which 26 cases were registered for violation of Loudspeaker Act, 34 against Security Ordinance and 06 cases  against Tenancy Act.  Besides, 105 cases of over speeding, 16 cases of power theft, 15 cases of fireworks, 5 cases of illegal gas refilling, 10 cases of bogus number plates, 2 cases of open sale of petrol, 2 cases of sale of substandard cylinders in vehicles and 10 cases of  gambling act  have been registered in different police stations of Vehari district.   DPO Vehari Zahid Nawaz Marwat said that the convenience of the citizens is being given priority during the operations against anti-social elements so that the sense of security among the people is more prominent and they consider the police as their helper.  He added that crackdown on proclaimed offenders, robbers, drug dealers and criminal elements would continue on a daily basis to ensure safety of life and property of the citizens.
