Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani has said that measures for citizen centric policing are my priority to eradicate crime from the society, protect the lives and property of the people and provide them policing related services easily while supervisory officers on investigation matters should focus specifically on optimizing case workout rates to improve the sense of security among citizens. He further said that a 15-day special campaign should be launched against vehicles with fake and non-standard number plates and vehicles with tinted windows and illegal blue lights on highways in other districts of the province including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala and Faisalabad and a detailed report of police actions should also be sent to the Central Police Office. He further directed all CPOs and DPOs to send allotted nufree of Punjab Constabulary (PC) back to PC in all cases by April 1st. in any case and the districts which did not send PC personnel by their due date should send their CPOs and DPOs to explain themselves to the IG. He further said that the reforms initiated with the help of modern technology are aimed at improving the working of the police so that the DIG IT should submit a report on the use of administrative dashboards of all RPOs and DPOs by April 1st. He further said that the best welfare of the police force is one of my top priorities and therefore immediate departmental action should not be delayed against those responsible for not delivering welfare checks to the personnel and their families on time. He also commended DG Khan, Khanewal, Multan, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Vehari, Kasur and Bahawalpur police for their excellent monthly performance and directed to continue the same progress in future. He further said that torture, killing or escape of the accused in police custody is not acceptable in any case and immediate departmental and legal action should be taken against the black sheep involved in such incidents by ensuring immediate punishment. He further said that legal action should be taken against those who registered false cases under section 182 at all levels so as to reduce the extra workload on the police. He further said that police stations, police offices and especially field duty staff should consider face masks as an integral part of uniforms to prevent Corona epidemic and ensure implementation of SOPs and precautionary measures issued against Corona in any case so that Police teams can provide all possible protection and service to the people by staying safe from Corona. He issued these instructions to all the officers including RPOs, CPOs and DPOs of the province while presiding over a video link conference at the Central Police Office here today.
At the conference, all the RPOs and DPOs of the province gave briefings on crime prevention and overall performance in their regions and districts, on which the IG Punjab instructed that all initiatives regarding modern policing and smart working have been initiated and the success of the projects depends on polite attitude towards the citizens, excellent performance of duties and prompt response to the people. Therefore, all officers should continue to take all possible steps for the convenience of the citizens under citizen centric policing. In addition to timely measures of prevention of child and women abuses, all RPOs and DPOs should investigate these cases under their own supervision, while geo-fencing, forensic science and modern investigation tools should be used to investigate other serious crimes including murder and rape and special use should be made so that the process of bringing the accused involved in these crimes to justice can be expedited. He further said that the officers who showed no interest in arresting the proclaimed offenders had no right to remain at the field post and hence actions should be taken on priority basis under zero tolerance against the proclaimed offenders, thugs and occupation groups who were harassing noble citizens. He further said that in view of the arrival of Easter, search, sweep, combing and intelligence based operations in sensitive districts should be intensified and action should be taken against the property owners and tenants for violating the Tenancy Act. All RPOs, DPOs of the province participated in the crime meeting through video link while Additional IG Establishment Azhar Hameed Khokhar, Additional IG Investigation Fayyaz Ahmed Dev, Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan, DIG Legal Jawad Dogar, DIG Operations Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, DIG Headquarters Shahzada Sultan, DIG IT Waqas Nazir and DIG SPU Munir Masood Marth and other officers were present.
