Six POs held in operation
RAHIM YAR KHAN, March 3: The police claim to have arrested six proclaimed offenders following a `shootout` at katcha area near Bhong, about 55 kilometres from here.
They said Rasool Bakhsh Lathani, Ghulam Nabi Lathani, Jumma Khan Lathani, Rab Nawaz Lathani, Muhammad Nawaz Lathani and another gangster were involved in killing a resident of Chak Gul Muhammad in August 2004 besides many other incidents of heinous crime.
The police said 20 teams of commandos from various police stations of Punjab besieged the island-like katcha area near the river Indus, where scores of criminals exchanged fire with them.
According to the police, around 200 gangs of kidnappers and dacoits had hideouts in these areas and they included Badla Lathani, Akbar Lathani, Long Lathani, Ayub Lathani, Chhutu Bakrani, Meeran Kokani, Ayub Sadwani, Sheru Sakhyani, Pehlwan Sakhani, Shobi Bakrani, Todo Sakhyani, Meetha Dhanwani and Mehmooda Indhar which operated in Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Ghotki and Kashmore.
