Okara Police bust 190 POs, 6 dacoit gangs

On the directives of Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani, vigorous operations underway in various areas of the province to weed out the criminal and anti-social elements and protect the life, honour and property of the common man.

The police in all districts of the province have been utilizing all-out resources to improve the rule of law and raise sense of security among the general public.

In this regard, the Okara Police under the leadership of DPO Faisal Shehzad showed remarkable success against criminals in the last one month which has helped significantly reduced crime rate in the district.

Okara DPO Faisal Shehzad infroed that special teams headed by experienced officers have been formed in the district and various tasks were given to them which worked hard and used modern technology to trace cases of robbery and dacoity and also arrested 29 armed robbers of six gang involved in incidents, from whom 72 cases have been traced while stolen goods and cash worth Rs5.6 million rupees have been recovered and returned to the original owners.

In the ongoing operation to nab the proclaimed offenders, the police arrested 190 proclaimed offenders including 16 A category and 174 B category offenders while 38 court absconders have also been detained.

DPO Okara Faisal Shehzad said that during the operations against drug dealers, police teams recovered 54 kg of cannabis, 250 grams of opium, 1898 liters of liquor while 09 mini liquor factories were also seized.

Regarding the ongoing drive to eradicate illegal weapons from the district, he said that a total of 94 cases have been registered in which 75 pistols, 10 guns and 07 rifles and other weapons were recovered from the possession of the accused while implementing the National Action Plan.

12 cases against violation of sound system, 03 cases of temporary accommodation, 94 cases of illicit weapons, 4 cases of wall chalking, 16 cases of anti-gambling campaign, 02 cases of kite flying and 2 cases of display of weapons have been registered.

DPO Faisal Shehzad further said that Okara Police will continue to perform its professional duties honestly to ensure uniform implementation of law and order and protection of life and property of the people and no sacrifice will be spared in the discharge of professional duties.

He further said that Okara police is committed to protect the lives and property of the citizens and suppress criminals and every possible effort will be made to make the district a real cradle of law and order by ridding it of anti-social elements.
