IGP reply sought in promotion case
LAHORE–JUSTICE Sheikh Azmat Saeed of the Lahore High Court on Friday sought reply from Inspector General of Police Punjab by March 14 on a writ petition of ten DSPs, questioning unnecessary delay in their due promotion to the rank of SPs.
Arif Rasheed and others filed the petition, submitting that their promotion to the rank of SPs was due since many years but the department’s high-ups had not promoted them so far.
Petitioners said the Supreme Court had also ordered the department to promote them but the authorities ignored that order too.
They, therefore, prayed that the IGP be directed to implement the order of the apex court and award them due promotion.
After hearing the contention of the petitioners, Justice Saeed directed the IGP to file the reply by March 14.
