Psychological testing of police officials from today
RAWALPINDI, March 7: All personnel of the Rawalpindi police will undergo a psychological analysis from Tuesday, it has been learnt.
A team, comprising a doctor from the police department, a lady constable holding a master`s degree in psychology, SSP headquarters and SP security, will conduct the assessment of the police personnel.
Senior Superintendent of Police (operation) Yasin Farooq, when contacted, said on the instructions of the inspector general of police (IGP), all personnel, including women police, would undergo the test.
He said the decision had been taken to trace out those police personnel who had psychiatric problems.
The SSP said it would help them select personnel for VIP security duties, pilot squads, guard duties, patrolling and on other sensitive assignments.
A doctor in a government hospital said all law enforcement agencies personnel, especially policemen, should undergo a psychiatric assessment test.
A policeman said there were several personnel in the department who exhibited a bizarre behaviour during duty or suffered from personality disorder.
A senior doctor at Benazir Bhutto Hospital said a request had been received from the police department regarding psychological evaluation of its personnel, adding a questioner prepared by the senior psychiatrist was given to the police.
He said the police department was asked to get it filled from its personnel and send those officials for treatment whose scoring was below a specific level.
Police personnel at the time of recruitment have to go through physical and integrity checks but they never undergo any psychological testing.
