Security at exam centres beefed up in Lahore
LAHORE: The Lahore police have beefed up security around different examination centres for matriculation. Lahore board of Intermediate and secondary education Lahore established 359 examination centers for examination of matriculation in different areas of the provincial capital.
With the start of matriculation examination, the Lahore police have another task in their hands to provide security measures to the students appearing in the examination and also to the teachers, who are giving duties in these examination centers. It is learnt that on Monday, DIG Operations Rao Sardar directed all divisional SPs and all concerned SHOs to provide sufficient security at all examination centers. It is learnt that the DIG Operations have ordered strict security arrangements, not only to avoid terrorism but also to ensure transparency in the examinations. Further more, the DIG Operations has also directed concerned SHOs to engage City Traffic Police officials (Traffic Wardens) to ensure smooth flow of traffic and around examinations centers. Well placed sources said after directions of the DIG Operations, all SHOs have provided police personnel at every examination center. An SHO said due to shortage of police staff all SHOs are facing problem while deploying cops at examination centers. He said due to poor strength available, every SHO has tried to ensure availability of at least one or two cops at every examination centre.
