Crackdown against anti-social and criminal elements continues across the province on the instructions of IG Punjab.
Vehari police arrested 300 proclaimed offenders, 261 drug dealers and 167 illegal arms dealers .
By registering 86 cases of property crime, recovered property worth Rs. 1 crore 03 lac while 40 members of 14 gangs have been arrested and amount of 72 lacs 04 thousand have been recovered.
On the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani, crackdown against anti-social elements is going on in all the districts of the province and especially crackdown against notorious criminals, illegal weapons and drugs has been intensified. In this regard, Vehari Police took emergency measures for the arrest of anti-social elements in December 2020 and January 2021 and achieved significant successes against criminal elements. Meanwhile, during the operation launched by Vehari Police for the arrest of wanted criminals in serious cases, the police teams performed high performance and arrested 300 notorious criminals and proclaimed offenders involved in serious incidents including murder, dacoity and robbery . Among them, 49 criminals are of category A while 251are of category B . During this period, Vehari police traced 86 cases of property crime and recovered property of worth Rs. 1 crore 03 lac while arresting 40 members of 14 gangs also ensured financial recovery of over Rs. 72 lacs 04 thousand.
In addition, during operations against criminals, 167 suspects were arrested and heavy weapons were recovered from their possession, including 04 Kalashnikovs, 48 guns, 35 rifles, 141 pistols, 10 revolvers and hundreds of bullets. Likewise taking actions against drug peddlers ,around 2959 grams of opium, 555 grams of heroin, 42 kilo chars, 5644 liters of liquor with lahan, 20 activated kilns and distillery were confiscated from their possession. Moreover , 111 cases were registered in implementation of National Action Plan out of which 26 cases under loudspeaker act, 06 cases under security ordinance,79 cases were registered under tenancy act, likewise, in different police stations of Vehari ,79 cases of over speeding , 19 cases of electricity theft, 91 cases of fireworks, 02 cases of illegal gas refilling, 06 cases against bogus number plates , 07 cases against song under environmental protection ,54 cases of selling of open petrol , 05 cases against installation of sub standard gas cylinders in vehicles and 21 cases against gambling were registered in different police stations of Vehari district. District Police Officer Vehari Zahid Nawaz Marwat said that during the operations against anti-social elements, convenience of citizens is being ensured and It is being done to provide and enhance the sense of security among the people and so that they consider the police as their helper. He added that crackdown on proclaimed offenders, robbers, drug dealers and criminal elements would continue on daily basis to ensure safety of life and property of the citizens.
