Suicide bomber arrested
LAHORE - law enforcement agencies and district police arrested a suicide bomber from Layyah here on Sunday night, The Nation learnt reliably.
Well established sources confided to The Nation, on a tip-off the law enforcement agencies raided a few suspected hideouts from where a terrorist, yet to be identified, was arrested.
“One suicidal vest, 400 live rounds, six hand grenades, a handmade bullet proof jacket, 1 Kalashnikov, a mobile phone, currency and such other sensitive articles and sophisticated weapons have been recovered from his possession,” they added.
Informed sources further claimed the suspected terrorist, in his late 30th, was residing in the area from the couple of days ago. “Apparently, the terrorist seems belonging to the northern areas of the country but the agencies are interrogation the suspected person in order to know about his nefarious designs in the locality concerned,” they added.
Top police sources said that the law enforcement agencies believed some notorious gangsters of southern Punjab were involved in providing shelter to the terrorists. During preliminary investigations, the suspected terrorist has confessed that he is connivance with his accomplices was planning to carry a massive suicidal attack on a sensitive government installation in Punjab. “Yes, these terrorists are being trained from the western parts of the Dera Ghazi Khan as the belt where the writ of the government was comparatively bit weak,” they added. Meanwhile, an SP of Multan Division, seeking anonymity, said the government must have to take a firm stand before the situation becomes out of control.
“The accomplices of notorious terrorist namely Usman also belonged to Kabirwala. We have to work out on this belt and on such other areas,” he added.
Earlier, the law enforcement agencies shifted the terrorist to an unknown place for interrogation. Further investigations are underway.
