FAISALABAD: Police claim to have solved the murder case of a girl who was found shot dead on Nov 5, arrested the killer and seized the murder weapon.
The body of the girl, identified as Kainat – a student of MSc Zoology at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), remained unidentified for three days. Her family identified her when police showed them pictures from the crime scene.
On Nov 5, a girl was found shot in the head in Railway Colony near the Abdullahpur bridge. The local police could not arrest the killer who had managed to escape from the spot.
Police found it difficult to identify the girl and employed various techniques to locate her family.
He said that after finding the body, police had launched an investigation and contacted locals, however they had no knowledge about the victim. They then shared pictures from the crime scene on different forums to help identify the victim and solve the case.
He added that Kainat’s family contacted police and were shown pictures of the body after which they identified her as their daughter. Police interrogated Hussain and concluded that he had gunned her down over a monetary dispute, he added.
Identification of Kainat as a student of UAF created panic among her fellow students who launched a social media campaign #justiceforkainat and demanded justice for her.
