Man held for beating teenage boys over Rs500 theft

BAHAWALPUR: The Abbas Nagar police arrested on Saturday landlord Tanveer Shehzad, who allegedly confined two teenage boys in illegal custody and beat them accusing them of stealing Rs500 from his house in the village near Magwani.

According to the police, Haji Shabeer Ahmed suspected that Shoaib (14) and Umar Siddique (11) stole his Rs500 a few days back. On Friday, the boys were grazing their herds in fields, when Shabeer’s frontman Tanveer locked them in a nearby tubewell building and beat them. When the video of the beating went viral, the police registered a case on the complaint of boys’ uncle Ishaq.

HELD: The Uch Sharif police arrested two people and seized 250 kilos of charas and opium from them on Saturday.

SP Salim Khan Niazi told a press conference ringleader Akram and member Ahmed Yar were wanted in cases of drugs supply in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, DG Khan and other districts. On a tip-off that Akram was supplying drugs in a car while his accomplice was accompanied him on a motorcycle. The police first intercepted the car and arrested Akram and later his accomplice. Akram is from tehsil Jatoi of district Muzaffargarh while his member Ahmed Yar belonged to tehsil Sadiqabad.
