Lahore :On the instructions of IG Punjab, a crackdown against anti-social elements was intensified across the province.
Okara police arrested 195 notorious criminals, including 14 members of 5 gangs in a month, drugs and illegal weapons recovered. It has also been ensured that peaceful citizens do not face trouble during police operations, IG Punjab Shoaib Dastgir.
Directions of Inspector General Punjab Shoaib Dastgir :
On the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Shoaib Dastgir, a series of operations against anti-social elements is going on in the province. While crackdown on illegal arms, drug dealers and kite sellers has been intensified.
Actions taken by Okara Police
In this connection, Okara police took emergency measures to arrest anti-social elements during the last one month and arrested several anti-social elements. In this regard, District Police Officer Omar Saeed Malik said:
14 members of 5 gangs arrested and 9 pistols, 1 rifle, 1 gun and 56 bullets and cartridges recovered from their possession; during the operation against persons involved in various crimes last month.
While stolen cash, motorcycle, cattle, mobile phone, LCD etc. worth Rs. 1078700 were also recovered from them. Similarly, 112 cases of arms registered:
2 Kalashnikovs, 6 rifles, 17 guns , 91 pistols / revolvers, 1 carbine and 529 bullets recovered. Likewise, 134 cases under crimes of drugs registered; and 96.476 kg chars ,1994 liter wine ,107 liter lehn and 10 working alcohol manufacturing kilns have recovered from the accused.
While cracking down on gamblers, 12 cases have registered and huge amount of money has been recovered. During the last month, 195 fugitives arrested out of which 19 fugitives in A category; 176 fugitives were in B category and 22 were fugitives from the court.
Under implementation of national action plan 26 cases under violation of sound system:
7 cases have registered under the temporary tenancy Ordinance,
3 under the Hate Material Act
and 1 under the 16-MPO Act.
Remarks of DPO Okara
DPO Okara, Omar Saeed Malik was of the opinion that as per special instructions issued by IG Punjab Shoaib Dastgir; environment of trust mutual coordination between police and public should improve; by tightening the noose around anti-social elements. Ensuring that peaceful citizens do not face any trouble during police operations while also ensuring that The people should have a sense of security. And consider the police as their helpers so that an atmosphere of trust is maintained between the police and the public. He further said that crackdown against proclaimed offenders , robbers, drug dealers, habitual criminals and criminal elements would continue on a daily basis to ensure safety of life and property of the citizens which I am personally monitoring.
