GUJRANWALA: City police claimed on Friday to have traced the gang that was killing people while they were asleep on their rooftops, and arrested one member of the group.
City Police Officer Rai Babar Saeed told Dawn that the gang had become a major threat to citizens.
People’s Colony police traced a suspected member of the gang, Arsalan, with the help of technology, arrested him from his hideout in the colony and shifted him to an undisclosed location.
During interrogation, Arsalan confessed to killing six people and injuring three by smashing their heads with bricks. Police were interrogating him further to get information about his companions.
The suspect is also said to have completed a prison term in 2017 for killing a woman.
MOTHER’S MURDER: District police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly killing his mother with a knife over a domestic dispute.
Suhaib Olakh, a resident of Owais Karni locality of Kamoke, had an argument with his mother, Shahnaz Bibi, over domestic issues. On Aug 3, he killed his mother with a knife and fled from the house.
Saddar police claimed to have arrested Olakh from a hideout and sent him behind bars.
SUICIDE ATTEMPT: A woman allegedly jumped into a canal to die by suicide after a dispute with her husband. Rescue 1122 managed to save her.
Sana, a resident of Haji Park, had quarreled with her husband, Afzal, after which she stormed out of the house and allegedly jumped into a canal near Ratta Jhal bridge.
A Rescue 1122 team reached the spot immediately and rescued the woman, and shifted her to hospital.
