SIALKOT: Police claim to have foiled a major attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics from Afghanistan into Sialkot and arrested a suspect with the contraband during special checking near Motra in Daska here on Wednesday.
The Sialkot district police officer (DPO) said police checked a suspicious car and found 14 kilogrammes of fine quality heroin, 2.2kg hashish, 2kg opium and 500 grammes of ice packed in small packets and concealed in the car.
He claimed that the suspected smuggler, Sartaj Khan of Landi Kotal, said he was smuggling the narcotics from Afghanistan into Sialkot. The seized narcotics were stated to be worth Rs20 million.
Police sent the suspect behind bars after registering a case against him. The DPO added that further investigations were under way.
