Regional SPs briefed about the performance of their respective regions for first half of 2020.

 On the direction of Inspector General of Police Punjab Shoaib Dastgir, a meeting was held at the Central Police Office to review the half-yearly performance of Punjab Highway Patrol, which was chaired by Additional IGP PHP Capt(R) Zafar Iqbal Awan (Sitara e Imtiaz). DIG PHP Tariq Abbas Qureshi, SSP Headquarters Afzal Nazir, Regional SPs, District DSPs and other officers also attended the meeting. While a competitive and comparative review of the first half of 2020 and 2019 was conducted on this occasion. The agenda of the meeting included duty plan on Eid-ul-Adha, overall performance, audit, welfare, discipline and reports of road and crime accidents, vehicle repair and maintenance, pilot project of traffic management in DG Khan and Sargodha.

All the Regional Heads gave presentations on the performance of their regions during the last six months while the performance of PHP Force, prevention of traffic accidents and measures taken against anti-social elements were also discussed in detail. Appreciating the performance of Multan and Faisalabad regions in the meeting, the Additional IG PHP directed that other regions should also improve their overall performance in the same manner while Vehari district has shown excellent performance in various fields in all the districts achieving first position overall.

Additional IG PHP Capt (R) Zafar Iqbal Awan while issuing high alert on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha said that PHP personnel in all regions and districts should perform their duties more diligently. The protection of the livestock of the traders coming in the markets and the lives and property of the citizens should be ensured at any cost. The  chair was briefed about the performance of the pilot project of traffic management launched in DG Khan and Sargodha region since July 1, 2020 and appreciated the results and reiterated the scope of the project. The Additional IG PHP directed that the repair and maintenance of vehicles used for operational purposes should be completed on priority basis so that the overall performance of the force could be improved.

He emphasized that the welfare and protection of personnel is one of the top priorities of PHP and therefore timely action should be taken under all available resources and comprehensive strategies in this regard as every officer and personnel of PHP Force is valuable. He appreciated the performance of PHP regarding Corona and said that the diligence and enthusiasm with which the PHP personnel performed their duties during the Corona Lockdown was commendable and they would continue to perform their duties in the future as well.

He further said that PHP officers should perform their duties as a "support force" for the convenience and safety of passengers on highways so that the atmosphere of cooperation between citizens and police could be improved. Make patrolling more effective to curb smuggling in the districts adjoining the provincial borders. Talking about the tree planting campaign, he said that this is a ongoing  charity, so plant as many trees as possible with the cooperation of the public And there is a zero tolerance policy against corruption. He further directed the Regional Heads that negligence in duty will not be tolerated at all. Attendance of personnel at the posts should be ensured. All Regional Heads and District Officers should expedite surprise visits in their respective areas.
