In order to chalk out the security strategy of media houses, bridges, prisons and to review the overall crime situation in the province, an RPO conference held here today at Central Police Office Lahore under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.
RPOs of 9 regions through video link and CCPO Lahore, Capt. (R) Amin Wainse, Addl: IGP Operations / Investigations, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP PHP, Dr. Arif Mushtaq, DIG Headquarter, Farooq Mazhar, DIG I.T, Shahid Hanif, DIG Vigilance, Agha Yousaf, DIG PHP, Sulman Chaudhry, AIG Operations, Waqar Abbasi, AIG Logistics, Humayun Bashir Tarar and other senior officers were also attended the conference at CPO.
The conference decided, to speed-up the process of the arrests of hardened P.Os across Punjab. The decision regarding to enhance the security of the bridges and prisons was also finalized.
In the wake of prevailing law and order situation in the country, particularly, the attacks at media houses in Faisalabad and Lahore consecutively an SOP in this regard was also finalized in the conference.
According to this SOP, all media houses will build at least 8 feet high wall with 2 feet razor wire. A bunker at vantage points / roof top of the building should be erected and concrete barriers should also be affixed at main entrances.
Moreover, all media houses will install walk through gates at their entry points and all visitor must be properly searched before entrance. Emergency alert system at the pattern of schools will be activated in all media houses and this system will be connected with rescue-15, concerned DPO, SDPO, SHO and CPO Control Room.
All security guards who will be hired from any recognized security company must be deployed after getting vetted through Special Branch of Punjab Police. SP Headquarter Lahore will be the focal person whereas, in other districts, the officer of the rank of SP / DSP will be designated as focal persons and their numbers will be shared with media. In Central Police Office, Lahore, AIG Operations has been designated as focal person for coordination with media.
According to the SOP, all field officers will manage the audit of security arrangements of the media houses on quarterly basis, whereas, SHO rank officers will visit at least once a day, SDPO twice a week and DPO at least once a week will be responsible to visit media houses in their respective jurisdictions.
The conference also decided that the joining of the officials after transfer or promotion could only be accepted after receiving their sealed documents through courier and after their personal appearance before the concerned SPs and DSPs.
The conference also decided that the grace and respect of the police uniform will be maintained at any cost and strict action will be taken against the violators who attacked a police officer in Sialkot when he was discharging his official duties.
