Arrangements to protect the processions and majalis...

Under the demands of the field officers, decision regarding the deployment of security officials and other arrangements to protect the taken out processions and majalis on Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A), final plan in this regard has been approved by the Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.
 
After the approval in 36 districts of Punjab 46963 police officers / officials will perform security duties to protect 554 processions and 987 majalis scheduled in Punjab. These processions and majalis were divided into three categories “A”, “B” and “C” respectively. 113 processions will be included in “A”, 174 “B” and 267 of “C” category, whereas, 93 majalis of “A”, 305 “B” and 589 of “C” category will be held in the province.
 
Total 39 companies of Pakistan army will remain on stand by position in 20 districts, particularly in 92 flashing points as declared most sensitive.
 
Deployed force 46963 included 34134 of Police, 10953 of PQR and 1876 of Special Police in which 228 gazetted officers, 547 Inspectors, 1941 Sub-inspectors, 2893 ASIs, 2379 HCs and 25123 Constable will perform security duty.
 
While directing the field officers, the provincial police chief emphasized to follow the security SOP which was issued on moharram-ul-haram. He further directed to establish surprise pickets at all entrance and exit points of the cities and to continue the search and sweep operations around important buildings, markets, bus terminals, banks, hotels, hostels and restaurants till the end of last procession / majalis.
