FAISALABAD: In a first, the district police get ISO certification for five police stations by dint of speedy service delivery.
CPO Sohail Chaudhry told Dawn police had applied for the certification of different police stations where excellent services were being provided to people. He said currently the police stations which had been accredited for DIN EN ISO9001:2015 certification included Fiedmc, Gulberg, Ghulam Muhammadabad, Dijkot and Factory Area.
All police stations have been given certification for one year under the quality management system requirements.
The CPO claimed that for the first time in the history of Pakistan any police station had been given ISO certification. He said one Khidmat Markaz had also been given ISO certification.
Giving details of the services being rendered at the [certified] police stations, SSP (operations) Ali Raza said these included registration of FIR, lost and found report, meeting with the SHO, hearing of parties by investigation officers, hearing of inquiry on application, hearing of a writ petition, superdaris, complaint against police, meeting with reconciliation committee, meeting with female police officers, tenants registration, employee registration and coordination with other departments.
He said: “We are trying to improve facilities at all the police stations where people can come and get their issues resolved without any sort of problem.”
The CPO said the district police had also been improving its transport facilities by improving the condition of abandoned vehicles and work on the project was under way which would save million of rupees.
“We are getting the old fleet of transport repaired at fast pace amid regular quality inspection. All three categories like troop carriers, prison vans and police station vehicles are on the priority.”
SHO CAUGHT: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested the station house officer (SHO) of D Type Colony police station red-handed while taking bribe from a man on Tuesday.
Submitting an application, Ghulam Mustafa of Chak 123-RB said SHO Talish Abbas demanded bribe from his friend, Arshad Mehmood, threatening that if he refused, Mehmood would be implicated in cases of heinous crimes. He said they gave the SHO Rs10,000 on the eve of Eidul Fitr.
The complainant said the SHO later demanded Rs100,000 from his friend to spare him. “We don’t want to grease his palms anymore,” he added.
Following submission of the application, the ACE constituted a raiding team that caught the SHO red-handed. A case was also registered against him.
