Chand Raat, Eidul Fitr security plans finalised

<p>LAHORE:&nbsp;Punjab Police finalised its security plan for Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr. The plan was finalised under a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore chaired by the Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) Shoaib Dastagir.</p>

<p class="rtejustify">Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations wing) Lahore Rai Babar Saeed while giving details of the security plan informed that more than 7,000 policemen along with officers and officials will perform duty on Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr in Lahore.</p>

<p class="rtejustify">As many as six superintendents of police (SPs), 35 deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), 83 inspectors and more than 500 subordinates will be on duty on Eid.</p>

<p class="rtejustify">“There are more than 5,000 masjids in the city which have been categorized according to sensitivity. There are 113 masjids of category A, 2,214 masjids of category B and 2,677 masjids of category C,” Rai Babar Saeed revealed.</p>

<p class="rtejustify">Eid prayers will be performed at 190 open places of the city which will also be provided complete security, he added.</p>

<p class="rtejustify">Implementation of 20 point government directions regarding coronavirus prevention will be ensured by enforcement teams in collaboration with masjid committees and citizens. Saeed added that search and sweep operations, snap checking, biometric verification and all other preventive measures will be adopted to avoid any untoward situation.</p>

<p class="rtejustify">On Chand Raat, 18,253 officials across the province will perform their duties including 14,655 police officers, 80 Special Police Officials and 3,598 police volunteers. Moreover, 33 scanning walkthrough gates will be placed near sensitive locations to strengthen security check.</p>

<p class="rtejustify">In addition to aforementioned measures, 2,940 metal detectors and 2,033 CCTV cameras will be placed to add an extra security layer for the protection of citizens across Punjab.</p>

<p class="rtejustify">The security plan highlights that on Eid, for the security of 21,013 mosques, Imam Bargahs and 840 open spots religious gatherings, at least 44,416 officers have been asked to perform security duties.</p>

<p class="rtejustify">A total of 32,441 police officers, 1,532 officials of special police and 10,443 national police volunteers will help protect sensitive locations including places of worship. For strengthened security, 284 security walkthrough gates, 11,185 metal detectors and 2,428 CCTV cameras shall be installed to enhance the safety of commoners.</p>
