GUJRAT: Police claim to have arrested two people who were transporting thousands of kites and reels of string in an ambulance near Servis Mor on Monday.
Police claimed that they were tipped off about thousands of kites and strings being transported to Gujrat upon which they barricaded the old GT road. While checking vehicles, they found kites and other related material in an ambulance.
Police arrested ambulance driver Ibrar Ahmed of Dhakranwali and Samiullah, a kite trader from Tapiala Sahian, lodged a case against them and recovered the kites and string.
Police said that it had accelerated the operation against kite flying and those involved in the business. However, kite flying continues in various areas of the city despite claims of a crackdown on the practice.
