As per directions of IGP Punjab Shoaib Dastagir, crackdown of Police teams against professional beggars mafia is continued.
Legal actions have been taken against 2205 beggars across the province since the start of operation.
Collectively, 657 cases have been registered against the beggars mafia whereas 2071 beggars have been released on warning.
As per directions of IGP Punjab Shoaib Dastagir, crackdown of Police teams against beggars mafia on roads rising in the wake of Corona lock down in all districts across the province is continued on so that the citizens traveling on roads may be saved from any undue trouble and difficulty. In this regard, police teams while taking legal actions against 2205 beggars included 1862 male beggars and 293 female beggars along with 50 children beggars. 657 cases have been registered against such elements involved in begging whereas 2071 individuals have been released on warning.
According to the details, IG Punjab Shoaib Dastagir stressed upon all field officers to speed up the crackdown against beggars mafia and directed that such characterless persons who exploit children for begging do not deserve any concession and special action should be taken against them and in this regard actions should be kept on with collaboration of teams of Child Protection Bureau. He further added that swift actions should be taken against those drugs addictives who pretend themselves to be handicapped and jobless so that the citizens may be saved from them. He moreover said that with respect to police actions, progress report should be sent to Central Police Office.
