On the instructions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Javed Iqbal to provide prompt, efficient and preferential policing services to Pakistani expatriates a separate “Police Help Desk” will be established in three cities of the Punjab.
This was disclosed by Malik Khuda Baksh Awan Addl. IG Research & Development while briefing the media at PHQ here today.
According to details, initially in the offices of DPO Jehlum, Sialkot and Gujrat these help lines will be operated round the clock as a pilot project which will be expanded gradually in other cities.
A team of the dedicated police officials will be posted in these help desks. All requests, complaints received in these Help Desks from overseas Pakistanis or their relatives in Pakistan should be responded within shortest possible time. Malik K.B Awan further told that each and every telephone call, e-mail, fax and complaints received by post must be logged in the prescribed complaint registers and immediately placed before DPO for prompt, quick and appropriate action.
In order to achieve professional acumen and build confidence of the public at large in police force IGP issued 18 points code of conduct to all police force. While elaborating the code of conduct Malik K.B Awan told that honesty and integrity, fairness and impartiality, corruption, politeness and tolerance, use of force, abuse of authority, performance of duties, lawful orders, confidentiality, appearance, protection of health in custody, participation in political affairs and voting, powers of search of persons and premises, employment, extra departmental influence not to be solicited, police officers not to indulge in speculation, communication to the press, general conduct are main features of code and conduct.
In case of violation of same shall be awarded punishment according to Punjab employees efficiency, disciplinary and accountability Act, 2006, he added.
