District police distributes food, masks, sanitizers among the needy

BAHAWALNAGAR: The district police continued distribution of ration among the needy for the third day on Sunday.

Face masks and hand sanitisers were also distributed among the people.

Bahawalnagar District Police Officer (DPO) Quddus Baig, Haroonabad Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Malik Ejaz and Fort Abbas SDPO Humayun Iftikhar distributed ration at their respective offices, while station house officers distributed it with the help of donors at the doorsteps and workplaces of daily-wagers, labourers, the unemployed and the poor across the district.

DPO Baig, while taking to the media, vowed that in the wake of a lockdown in the district, ration will be distributed among the affected citizens daily till the crisis ended.

He said special teams had been constituted circle-wise to collect data of the needy and the teams had started distributing ration to their homes while he was personally monitoring the process.

He said the SDPOs had been assigned responsibilities in their respective tehsils to expand the distribution of goods. Directions had also been issued to all police officials to keep the names of the needy people receiving ration hampers discreet.

Meanwhile, the district police presented a salute to doctors, paramedics and healthcare staff on Saturday as well as flower bouquets during a ceremony held at the DHQ hospital here.

The ceremony was organised by the district administration that was participated by police, revenue and health officials.

Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Tariq Mehmood said doctors, nurses and paramedical staff, working day and night to fight the coronavirus pandemic, were saviours of the nation and the whole nation saluted them for their efforts.

He said the sacrifices of the healthcare professionals would go to waste if people did not follow the precautionary measures. At the end, the district police presented a guard of honour to the medics.
