Police heroes acknowledged with cash prizes

LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shoaib Dastgir on Thursday awarded cash prizes and commendatory certificates to several police officials from all over the province for showing outstanding performance and taking risks in the line of duty.

Addressing a ceremony at the Central Police Office, the IGP talked about years-old tradition of the Punjab police to encourage brave officers/officials of the force.The IGP gave cash award and certificates to Sargodha police officials for arresting an inter-provincial gang who used to snatch vehicles after murdering drivers.

Inspector Imran Haider was given Rs25,000 and a CC1 certificate for arresting the callous murderer of a minor child who was firstly kidnapped, raped and then murdered.

The officials of Attok police were cash prizes and commendation certificates for recovering an 11-year-old child who was kidnapped for ransom.

ASI Majid Jahangir from Rawalpindi was awarded cash for writing and composing a song on police performance.

Sub-divisional police officer from Dera Ghazi Khan Muhammad Riaz Hussain and Sub-Inspector Ammar Yasir were awarded certificate and cash for tracing an accused involved in raping and then murdering eight-year-old child Mehreen whereas DSP Inamul Haq was given a letter of appreciation for arresting a gang involved in a bank dacoity in Sahiwal.

Up to 52 officers and officials from Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan regions were awarded commendatory certificates and cash prize worth Rs635,000.

Former Faisalabad regional police officer Ghulam Mehmood Dogar and city police officer Ashfaq Ahmad Khan were also awarded letter of appreciation for arresting advocate Muhammad Imran for attacking the senior civil judge of Jaranwala and for averting the expected fierce scuffle between police and lawyers.

From Lahore police investigation official Hafiz Mubahir Ali was awarded Rs100,000 cash prize and a certificate for developing software for supplementary data whereas inspectors Muhammad Siddique and Ghulam Abbas were awarded cash prizes of Rs50,000 and certificates for showing good performance.
