TOBA TEK SINGH: Chuttiana police claimed to have solved a three-month-old blind murder case of a deaf-mute man and arrested three physically challenged men for the murder.

The body of the victim had been recovered three months ago from Gogera branch canal near Chak 304-GB.

The arrested suspects told Chuttiana police investigation officer, Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Arshad, during probe facilitated by communicators that the body of a deaf and dumb man was found in a canal. He was identified as Muhammad Adeel of Chak 167 Chishtian (Bahawalnagar).

The main suspect, Muhammad Ibrahim – a resident of Hasilpur, Bahawalpur -- was a watchman in a cottonseed oil factory located near Daban Wala canal bridge on Toba-Rajana road. The victim, Adeel, was his old friend. The two had entered into an agreement under which Adeel would marry Ibrahim’s deaf-mute sister and in exchange (watta satta) Ibrahim will marry Adeel’s sister who had no disabilities.

Adeel had married Ibrahim’s sister two years ago and had two children with her. But Adeel’s sister had refused to marry Ibrahim, which enraged the main suspect. Along with two deaf-mute accomplices, Muhammad Irshad and Muhammad Akram, he planned to kill Adeel.

Ibrahim had called Adeel to the factory he worked at on Oct 30, 2019 as it was closed for several weeks those days. When Adeel reached there, the three suspects mixed a sedative substance in his tea and when he fell unconscious, they hit his head and other body parts repeatedly with wooden bars.

When Adeel died, they dumped his body in a canal, which was recovered by farmers of Chak 304-GB a day later.

POWER SUPPLY: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) disconnected supply on Monday night to both sides of the Pirmahal interchange toll plaza on motorway M-3 (Abdul Hakeem-Lahore section) on charges of default.

Fesco officials claimed that the toll plazas owed Rs370,000 on account of electricity bill for a few months.

On the other hand, motorway interchange staff claimed that there was some dispute between the road contractor and toll plaza management regarding the payment of bill and hoped the issue would be resolved within a couple of days after which the outstanding electricity bill would be paid.
