Strict action has been directed against the kite flyers, persons involved in preparation of kites and mettalic thread, selling, buying and use of such material.

A campaign against criminals and reduction in crimes within week should be ensured at any cost.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain Retired Arif Nawaz Khan expressed serious displeasure over death of a citizen in Mughal Pura Lahore, due to metallic thread of kite and said that a comprehensive and effective strategy should be carved out in order to stop kite flying and against kite flyers in all districts across the Punjab by starting a crackdown against them. He added that there should be no delay in taking action against those Circle officers and SHOs who failed in implementing kite flying laws in their respective areas. He moreover said that there should be no discrimination in taking action against dealers of kites and kites flying metallic thread and materials whereas noble citizens should not be perturbed during the actions against the kite dealers and operation by police. IGP stressed that the any persons directly involved in kite flying, manufacturing of kites and metallic thread, its usage and sale purchase etc should be arrested immediately. IGP directed CCPO Lahore that a weekly campaign should be launched to control crimes in Lahore and intelligence based operations should be conducted especially to arrest A category criminals and crime rate should be lowered down within week. He further said that a special report should be made against those dacoits, robber, who were acquitted from courts during the last ten months and also prepare furnish a report that how challanged criminals get released from the courts and also identify the basic reasons of their acquittal from courts. He added that it should be made clear that rather the investigation officers are unable to present the cases in a proper way or identity parade is not done in correct way. He further said that there should be no delay in taking legal and departmental actions against those SHOs who have private gunman whereas if after one week, private gunman of a SHO got appeared then action will be taken along with the respective SP. These directions were issued by him when he was reviewing the crime situation in Lahore and after taking view of performance of Police teams.

While directing to officers IG Punjab said that circle officers, incharge investigation and SHOs should prepared themselves for action against them who failed in arresting the proclaimed offenders. He further said senior officers should pass maximum time in fields instead of their offices especially CCPO Lahore, DIG Operations and DIG Investigation should check and look after the officers deputed on patrolling whereas patrolling plan and beat system of dolphin force should be reorganized so that performance of the dolphin force should be improved as a first responders. He further said that monitoring of patrolling system of dolphin force should be made effective.
