On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad, Sukhera, final security plan for the visiting Zimbabwean Cricket team and cricket spectators have been finalized. Under this plan, about 9000 police officers/officials including all SSPs, SPs, Elite Police, Special Branch, and other Law Enforcing Agencies will remain on security duty during the scheduled cricket matches whereas 2000 officials will also remain stand-by to handle any untoward situation.
According to plan, CCPO Lahore, Amin Wains and DIG Operations, Dr. Haider Ashraf along with other senior officers will constantly supervise the arial surveillance through 03 designated helicopters. These officers will also remain in constant liaison with the administrations of PCB and visiting team.
SSP Operations Lahore, Muhammad Baqar Raza and SP CIA Lahore, Umer Virk, will supervise the search operations of various places and this exercise will be continued till the departure of the visiting team. Only during last 48 hours, the said officers conducted 128 search operations in various places of all 06 divisions of Lahore. During these operations, 107 Hotels, 17 Guest Houses, 724 Shops, 3016 houses and 870 tenants were checked. Similarly, 9009 persons have also been questioned during search operations whereas Railway Stations, Bus Terminals and all others sensitive places are being searched under the supervision of these two senior officers.
Similarly, for the maintenance of the traffic flow during the Cricket Matches, a team headed by CTO Lahore, Tayyab Hafeez Cheema, including 03 SPs, 1300 Traffic Wardens and 497 Lady Traffic Wardens will remain on duty.
