IG Punjab Captain (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan met delegation of British High Commission at Central Police Office

During meeting, Punjab police actions against terrorism and other matters of mutual interest were discussed

Inspector General Police Punjab Captain (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan said that Punjab Police’s Counter Terrorism Force (Counter Terrorism Department) is doing intelligence based operations to uproot terrorists due to which there is not only a steady decline in graph of terrorism by every year but also like previous years this year too “Ashra Muharram” was peaceful. He further said that in addition to terrorists actions are being taken to eradicate their facilitators and financial network. He further said that modern training and capacity building of police officials is among top priorities of department and in this regard mutual cooperation and coordination with other countries law enforcing agencies and police forces will be further extended. He expressed these views while meeting a two-member delegation from the British High Commission today at Central Police Office. In delegation was the newly appointed Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Liaison Officer Mr Matt Potts along with departing officer Mr Mark Imrie, while at this occasion Punjab Police operations, professional training of police force and matters of mutual interest were discussed.

British delegation acknowledged the efforts of Punjab Police in war against terrorism and also said that service delivery initiatives especially Police Khidmat Marakaz is according to the international standards. They also said that Punjab Police is the first police force of Pakistan to utilize the information technology especially the latest monitoring and surveillance system installed at Safe City Lahore IC3 project is at par with modern countries, and information sharing and professional cooperation with Punjab police will be further increased in future. In the end, shields were exchanged between IG Punjab and British Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Liaison Officers.\
