Joint operations to purge the province from drug peddlers agreed

IG Punjab directed Addl IG Operations to draft a summary to establish Drug Control Unit across all districts

During current year total nearly 26 thousand cases registered against drug sellers: Addl IG operations briefing

Inspector General Police Punjab Captain (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan said that to purge society from drug sellers and to save youth from the curse Punjab police will commence joint operations with Anti Narcotics Force in addition to information sharing so that all big or small players of this dirty business could be brought to justice. He further directed to ensure strict surveillance in the vicinity of educational institutes and hostels during intelligence based operations so that supplier of the drugs to youth could be brought to justice. He further said that with the help of Anti Narcotics Force special training sessions for drug identification will be arranged for the officials of Punjab Police so that police officials could identify and arrest elements involved in the heinous trade. He expressed these view while meeting with a two member delegation of Anti Narcotics Force including Regional Director Brigadier Khalid and Colonel Shafiq. During meeting Addl IG Discipline & Inspection Azhar Hameed Khokhar, Addl IG Operations Inam Ghani, CCPO Lahore B A Nasir, DIG Investigation Inam Waheed, AIG Operations Imran Kishwar and other senior officers were present. During meeting operation against drug sellers in province and other matters were discussed.

Regional Director Anti Narcotics Force Brigadier Khalid during meeting said that joint crackdown will be very helpful to break the network of drug sellers and also Anti Narcotics Force experts will train police officials to control synthetic drugs and drug identification to control the supply of drugs to youth. During meeting Addl IG Operations briefed that during current year so far nearly 26 thousand cases has been registered against the drug sellers among these 456 cases are against the gangs and individuals who were involved in drug selling near educational institutes and hostels. IG Punjab directed Addl IG Operations to ensure smooth coordination between both forces and also to prepare a summary to establish Drug Control Unit across all districts. He further said that relevant SHO and Circle Officer will be held accountable if a large amount of drugs seized by joint team of Anti Narcotics Force & Punjab Police. IG Punjab directed to arrest big fishes of the dirty trade to break their network in a coordinated and joint strategy. He also directed to involve community and civil society in this struggle to remove this curse from society.
