Joint operations against criminal elements in Tri Border area of Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan were decided

Riverine posts will be further strengthened in border districts

Inspector General Police Punjab Captain (r) Arif Nawaz Khan presided meeting of Expert Group for Tri Border Security at Central Police Office, IG Sindh Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam, IG Balochistan Muhsan Hassan Butt, via video link and Addl IG Balochistan Naeem Akram Bharoka, also participated in meeting. During meeting three police chiefs reviewed in detail matters regarding the tri border security to develop consensus on a joint action plan that will be later submitted to PM Pakistan through Interior Ministry. According to the action plan in tri border area of Punjab Sindh and Baluchistan joint operations will be carried out to eliminate hideouts of criminal elements.

During meeting it was also agreed that to purge the areas of border districts on Indus river, forest and kacha,  police force needs more weapons and equipment and for their provision government will be requested so that police force can continue its operation without facing any shortage of the supplies. Timely information sharing and intelligence based operations was also agreed to stop the movement of criminal elements in the area and to speed up the operations against them while keeping a close coordination with other law enforcement agencies.  During meeting it was also decided that riverine posts in border districts will be further strengthened while involving Railway Police during joint operations was also contemplated. Coordination at grass root level to stop weapon and drug smuggling in border districts was decided and police forces of the three provinces will carry out operation simultaneously against criminals involved in ransom kidnapping, dacoity and other crimes and to stop the movement of criminal elements. It was also decided in meeting that combing and intelligence based operations will be done against the network of proscribed originations involved in anti state activities, funding and other criminal actions.

During meeting, it was decided that the DPOs of tri border districts will meet on monthly basis to further improve the border security, while RPOs will meet after 3 months and Inspector Generals will meet after 6 months to review the joint operations. Next meeting of Expert Group for Tri Border Security will be held in Karachi in January 2020.
