IG Punjab chaired RPO, DPO video link conference at Central Police Office

Will start visiting different districts and police stations from next month: IG Punjab

In case of any violation of SOPs at police stations relevant DPO will be held directly accountable: IG Punjab

Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain (R) Arif Nawaz Khan said that I will start surprise visits of different districts and police stations of the province from next month and in case of any violation of SOPs relevant DPO will be directly accountable. He further said that cameras installed at SHO rooms and lock ups should have backup / data of atleast one week so that in any untoward incident video recording of the cameras can be produced in court as evidence and a transparent inquiry of the incident can be carried out. He further said that if any citizen is found in illegal custody or tortured or escaped from police custody a strict legal and departmental action should be taken against the relevant circle officer and SHO while in case of custodial death relevant DPO will be deemed directly responsible. He further said that all RPOs and DPOs should devise security plan for Eid Ul Azha in their own supervision and to thwart the crime and for the security of cattle markets, markets and shopping centres a separate plan by every districts should be devised.IG Punjab also emphasized on effective patrolling in the vicinity of cattle markets, markets and shopping centres. He further directed CCPO Lahore, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to hold special events to commemorate Youm E Shuhada on 4th of August in their respective regions and districts, families of martyrs should be invited as chief guests to pay tribute to the martyrs for their great sacrifice.  He further said that senior police officers from every district should visit the monuments and graves of martyrs and should also visit the families of martyrs and should also ensure initiative on priority basis to address their problems. He also said that a strict departmental action will be taken if any officer found guilty of slackness in addressing the complaint of any martyrs family in any district. He also directed to further improve the financial management in all districts. He expressed these views while presiding a video link conference at Central Police Office today regarding the Police stations reforms, Youm E Shuhada Police and Eid security Plan. All RPOs and DPOs of the province participated in the conference via video link.

 During the conference IG Punjab shared with officers that to improve the working condition of police stations is among my top priorities so all officers should take personal interest in timely initiatives to improve the working of police stations under their management because without improving the police stations desired results cannot be achieved. Refresher courses for the officials of operations and investigation should be completed at earliest and officials should be specially trained for public dealing and stress management to carry out their professional duties with excellence. He further said that all officers should keep their office doors open for complainants and citizens and should give exemplary punishments to the officers and officials found guilty of abuse of power and indecent behaviour with public. He further said that to improve the police stations working senior officers should surprise visit the police stations more often and a departmental action should be ensured in case of any violation of the SOPs.
