IGP Punjab ordered police officers to open the doors of their offices for general public.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain Retired Arif Nawaz Khan ordered police officers to open the doors of their offices for general public.

Official matters and official meetings should be completed after the dedicated time for resolution of public issues.

People who come for redressal of their grievances should not be kept waiting while officers sitting in their offices.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz Khan has directed  to CCPO Lahore and all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs  to  keep  open doors of their  offices for the public so that people  do not  face problem of undue waiting and their issues should be addressed on priority basis. IGP Punjab emphasized upon officers that they should dedicate a fixed time and also advertise it for hearing public complaints and their timely resolution as well so that accessibility of public to police officers may not be hampered .These directions were issued to CCPO Lahore, all RPOs and DPOs through a notification. It has further been directed in this notification that police officers and officials should call internal departmental meetings and other official meetings well before the arrival of general public or after they have been listened to. IGP stressed upon officers that the complainants must never be kept waiting for long hours when the officer is available.

IGP Punjab expressed strong displeasure in this notification and said that it is intolerable to keep the people waiting unduly during the presence of any officer in his office. He further said that it is responsibility of police to save the life, wealth and respect of the people therefore all the officers are directed to keep open their doors of their offices for people to solve their problems to hear and resolve their grievances according to open door policy. All the officers are strongly directed that not only they should follow the above instructions but also make their subordinates bound to adopt these instructions.
