Police resolve blind murder of civil engineer

GUJRAT: Police claimed on Tuesday to have resolved the blind murder of a civil engineer who had gone missing three days ago as the girl [he had an alleged affair with] and her accomplice turned out to be killers.

Gujrat District Police Officer Syed Ali Mohsin told Dawn that one Ameer Ahmed of Arifwala informed the police that his son Muhammad Ramzan, who was a civil engineer and employed in a Gujrat-based construction company, had been missing since June 21 as his cell phone had also been found switched off.

Adding he said that the Civil Lines police had lodged a case against the unidentified suspects under section 365 on the report of his father Ameer and started investigation into the case.

The DPO said a team traced the suspects with the help of the telephone data of the man.

He said the main suspect [girl] told the police that on Ramzan’s refusal to marry her, she along with her accomplice brought him to a house in Akhtar Colony, administered to him some intoxicating substance in juice, fired at him and slit his throat with a knife. He said later the suspects buried him by digging a ditch in the drawing room of the house.

The DPO said both the suspects had planned to flee Turkey to get married there; however, the police traced and arrested them.

Police have recovered the body from the house as well as motorbike of the deceased and knife used in the murder. He has announced cash award and commendation certificates for the police team.
