Snipers trained by Pak Army should be deployed on important and sensitive projects.

IG Punjab further directed that provision of bullet proof jackets and helmets should be ensured to officials performing security duties in open areas.

 

Inspector General of Police Punjab Captain Retired Arif Nawaz Khan said that provision of protection to foreign experts and citizens is the basic responsibility of the Special Protection Unit (SPU) and no negligence, carelessness and non professional attitude shall be tolerated at any cost. He further said that DIG SPU should visit sensitive working sites of CPEC on monthly basis whereas all field officers should visit these working sites fortnightly. He directed that basic needs and facilities for these officials should be ensured on priority basis. He moreover said that there should be no delay in providing bullet proof jackets and helmets to the officials working in the open areas and also constructive activities for recreation of official deputed over different developmental projects should be boosted up. He further said that the summary regarding vacant slots of officers and officials in SPU should be sent to Central Police Office so that these vacancies may be filled through new recruitment after seeking approval from the government. The views were expressed by IG Punjab during a meeting with officers of SPU. On this occasion Addl IG Operations Punjab Inam Ghani, DIG SPU Sultan Ahmad Chaudhary, Addl director security Lt. Colonel retired  Nadeem Khan, Addl Director Operations Colonel Mehdi Najam and Deputy Director Headquarters SPU Flight Lieutenant Retired Qaisar Basheer Makhdoom were present in the meeting.

Addl IG Operations Punjab Inam Ghani while briefing to IG Punjab told that 30 snipers have been trained by Pak Army for performing security duties on the most sensitive projects whereas 374 commandos trained by expert instructors of Elite Police Force are performing their duties in different important projects of the province. He further said that modern techniques based training, workshops and training courses are continued to enhance capacity building of officials of SPU. IG Punjab expressed that SPU is the most important operational force of Punjab Police and is performing its duties of security for protection of foreign experts and investors working over these projects. IG Punjab emphaisesd that all officers and officials should leave no stones unturned  to ensure protection of foreign guests. He directed that DPOs should also look after the needs of officials of SPU deputed on CPEC projects in their respective districts and also ensure to hold extra curricular activities like sports, weekly movie screening for recreation of those officials who are deputed on those working projects which are miles away from cities so that they may perform their duties in better way and with true letter and spirit. He further directed that if SPU faces deficiency of resources then it should inform to Addl IG logistics immediately, provision of the resources will be ensured on top priority, the IGP added.
