IG Punjab captain retired Arif Nawaz Khan issued orders to keep a high alert security across the province.

Senior officers have been directed to visits A category mosques, Imam bargahs along with other sensitive places and pay surprise visit of public centers for security checking.

Inspector General of Police Punjab captain retired Arif Nawaz Khan issued orders of high security alert in the wake of terrorist attack on a private hotel in district Gwadar of Baluchistan and directed to CCPO Lahore , all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to pay visits to sensitive places like mosques, Imam bargahs, public centers, markets , Ramzan Bazars and assess the security arrangements by themselves in the field so that there should no deficiency in measures taken by police for protection of lives and properties of the citizens. It has been directed in the notification of IG Punjab office that CCPO Lahore, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs should ensure “hotel eye system” functional whereas no person should be allowed to stay in hotels and guest houses without having identification card CNIC. The notification further said that intra provincial and intra districts check posts should be made more effective for better monitoring and checking and no vehicle should be allowed to move without complete checking besides checking of documents of passengers.

It has been emphasized upon in the notification that for protection of citizens, additional force should be deployed at important worship places and mosques especially during the time of Fajar and Traweeh prayers. In addition to it, working hours of dolphin, Peru, Quick Response and patrolling forces should be increased in surroundings of worship places. Metal detecting checking of citizens should be ensured in sensitive and A category mosques whereas bullet proof jackets should be provided to officials and snipers and police commandos in plain clothes should be deployed on roof tops. Combing, search, sweep and intelligence based operations should be conducted and security should ensured to churches and other worship places of minority in accordance with already defined SOPs. Security of shopping plazas and markets should be ensured especially in the evening. Further, it has been said in the notification that in case of shortage of resources for security arrangements then operations branch of central police office should be contacted immediately so that these resources should provided without any delay.
