Those delaying FIR won’t be spared: IGP

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police retired Capt Arif Nawaz Khan says delay in registration of FIR on public complaints will be considered a deliberate carelessness and action will be taken against them.

Addressing a meeting of senior police officers at the Central Police Office (CPO) here on Tuesday, he said he would not spare those causing delay in lodging cases on the complaints of citizens.

Additional IGs including Tariq Masood Yasin, Inam Ghani, and Abubakar Khudabaksh were present in the meeting besides DIG Ahsan Younas.

The IGP directed the (complaints) SP [from every district] to play an effective role in ensuring registration of FIR on public complaints.

During the meeting, Mr Arif stressed upon improvement in investigation and follow-up on the plaints received by the IGP Complaint Centre 8787.

If any officer failed to resolve the issue within the deadline, he/she should be held accountable by taking departmental action, he said.

The IGP further said for the capacity building of investigation officers refresher courses on latest skills should be completed at the earliest.

The process of training workshops for investigation officers under the supervision of master trainers in all districts should also be expedited.

The IGP emphasised strong coordination between operations and investigation wings so that a flawless and timely action against the anti-social elements could be ensured.
