IGP wants redressal of public complaints

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Captain (retd) Arif Nawaz Khan Monday ordered for addressing people’s grievances on priority basis.
While presiding over a meeting at Central Police Office here, he said the objective of police is to play an effective role in establishing a peaceful society by taking practical steps to ensure safety of lives and properties of the public.
Additional IG Internal Accountability Branch (IAB) briefed the IGP about the initiatives taken for addressing the public complaints. He said the SP Complaints from all districts across the province are dealing with public complaints on priority basis. He said that during the first four months of the ongoing year, the SP addressed 7,500 complaints.
The IGP said that death in police custody, torture and fleeing of accused from the police custody would not be accepted, and whoever would be responsible would be taken to task. He said the Punjab Police would be established as a force which known for its performance. Additional IGs, DIGs and other senior officers were also present on this occasion.
