JHANG: Pakistan Day was celebrated throughout the district with national zeal and enthusiasm.
The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for the sovereignty of the country. The main flag hoisting ceremony was held at district police lines.
DPO Attauer Rehman along with police officers hoisted the national flag. Members of the civil society including former president of Jhang Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, human rights activist Riaz Javed, traders, lawyers, students and others were present.
Addressing the ceremony, the DPO said the whole nation was celebrating Pakistan Day with unity as it was the day when the resolution for the independence of Pakistan was passed. After a short period of seven years, Pakistan came into being as a result of the untiring efforts of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders of Pakistan Movement, he said. The DPO paid tributes to the martyrs of the Pakistan movement and said “Pakistan was achieved after sacrificing lives of millions of people.
Later, the DPO laid wreath on the memorial stone of shaheeds. The district administration also arranged a ceremony in a private educational institution to mark the day.
Markets and roads were decorated with national flags and with portraits of the heroes of the Pakistan Movement.
GUJRANWALA: Pakistan Day was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervor on Saturday in Gujranwala. The day dawned with prayers in mosques for the progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country.
Several ceremonies and rallies were held by political and social organisations in different parts of the city. The main ceremony was held at Commissioner Office where Commissioner Waqas Ali Mehmood hoisted the national flag.
RPO Tariq Abbas Qureshi, DC Naila Baqar and other officers were also present on the occasion. Later, the district administration arranged a motorcycle rally participated by motorcyclists of civil defense, Dolphin force, Rescue 1122 and traffic police. The rally started from general bus stand and culminated at Iqbal High School GT Road.
MULTAN: Pakistan Day was celebrated with a commitment and enthusiasm to ensure progress, prosperity and a strong defence of the country.
The day dawned with special prayers for the prosperity of the county. A number of ceremonies were organised at public and private level on the occasion. The speakers at the ceremonies paid glowing tributes to the sacrifices of Pkaistan Movement and Kashmiris in their struggle for the freedom. The reporters criticised Indian aggression and war hysteria. They condemned terrorism in New Zeeland and said terrorism was a global phenomenon. The speakers appreciated stringent measures taken by New Zeeland to prevent the happening of such incidents in the future. The central ceremony of Pakistan Day was held at Qila Qasim Bagh where Commissioner Imran Sikandar Baloch, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wasim Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mudasar Riaz Malik, CPO Imran Mehmood and other officials were present and hoisted national flag. The Central Cotton Research Institute organised a special ceremony and conducted a competition of national songs. CCRI Director Dr Zahid Mehmood inaugurated the ceremony of national flag hoisting and offered special prayers for the betterment, uplift and prosperity of the country. A special ceremony was held at Multan police lines where RPO Wasim Ahmed Siyial inaugurated flag hoisting. A ceremony was also held in the honour of martyrdom police personnel and RPO Wasim Ahmed, CPO Imran Mehmood paid great tributes to their sacrifices.
SIALKOT: The Pakistan Day was celebrated in Sialkot with traditional zeal on Saturday.
Several ceremonies and functions were held in the city. Addressing national flag hoisting ceremony at Government Jaamia High School, Punjab Minister for Special Education Chaudhry Muhammad Ikhlaq said in order to make Pakistan as 'a strong welfare state' we had to wipe out corruption from every sphere of the society. He said regular elections could greatly help in cleaning out the corrupt element from national politics. MPA Syeda Farah Azmi and others were also present on the occasion.
In ceremonies at the Sialkot District jail and Government Jaamia High School, Sialkot Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syed Bilal Haider said Pakistan is the greatest gift of God Almighty for the Muslims of the sub-continent. He said hat real objectives of formation of Pakistan were yet to be achieved and we should work hard to achieve those goals by promoting the culture of love and tolerance. He distributed sweets among inmates of the jail and directed the jail officials to take measures for the provision of friendly environment, recreation and education for the children of jailed women.
A national flag hoisting ceremony was held in the office of Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 on Kutchery Road. Addressing the participants, District Emergency Officer Syed Kamal Abid said it was an historic day for each Pakistani to recall and renew their vows to play their honest role for the progress and prosperity of the country. Addressing a ceremony at Daarul Aman under the auspices of Shelter Home and a non-government organization (NGO), Social Welfare Officer Chaudhry Sharif Ghumman, chairman District Coordination Council for NGOs Chaudhry Muhammad Ishfaq Nazar Ghumman and other said Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his loyal companions had played exemplary role in creation of Pakistan and now it was the most basic duty of each Pakistan to work hard in order to help achieve the dreams of our national leaders and heroes.
OKARA: The district administration and police department observed the Pakistan day. Ceremonies of national flag hoisting were held at different places. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Maryam Khan arranged a ceremony at her office. DPO Athar Ismail, heads of different departments, elites of the city and others attended the event.
On the occasion, the DC said millions of people had sacrificed their livers for Pakistan. She said Pakistan Day was the day of revival of pledge of loyalty with the country.
LALAMUSA: Pakistan Day was celebrated here with great zeal, enthusiasm, fervor and national spirit on Saturday. The Pakistan flag hoisting ceremony was observed at Municipal Committee Lalamusa that was attended by people of different walks of life. The ceremony was organised by Vice Chairman Municipal Committee Lalamusa Sheikh Khalid Mahmood. City police arranhed a parade on this occasion and saluted to National Flag. Special prayers were offered for the prosperity of the country.
A light rain hit the city for a few minutes after the flag hoisting ceremony.
SARGODHA: Pakistan Day was celebrated here on Saturday with a renewed pledge to work hard for the progress, prosperity and stability of the country.
Special prayers were offered in all mosques for the security and welfare of the country. The main ceremony was held at Company Bagh Sargodha. Commissioner Sargodha division Zafar Iqbal Sheikh, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Silwat Saeed, Assistant Commissioner Khurram Abdullah, Mayor Sargodha Malik Aslam Naveed and other also attended the ceremony. The commissioner hoisted the national flag. On the occasion, the commissioner said the March 23, 1940 provided a framework for realisation of the goal for a separate homeland for the Muslims of sub-continent. "To mark the day, a photo exhibition was organised at Sargodha Art Council where unique pictures of Quaid Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal and others were put on display A seminar titled ''Roshni Ka Safar'' was also arranged by the Art Council Sargodha, where Assistant Director Saqib Ali Raza addressed the audience.
A walk was also held by the Civil Defence Sargodha in which a large number of people including women participated.
FAISALABAD: Pakistan Day was celebrated across the district with national zeal and zest. The day dawned with prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country.
The main flag hoisting ceremony was held at Commissioner Complex where Divisional Commissioner Mehmood Javed Bhatti, RPO Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, Deputy Commissioner Sardar Saif Ullah Dogar, CPO Ashfaq Ahmad and parliamentarians Sheikh Khurram Shahzad, Shakil Shahid, Firdous Rai hoisted the national flag. Wasa Vice Chairman Sheikh Shahid Javed, the officers of different departments, representatives of civil society were also present on the occasion.
Sweets were distributed among the participants. Addressing the ceremony, the commissioner said the entire nation was celebrating the Pakistan Day with unity as it was the historical day of Pakistan history when resolution for the independence of the Pakistan was passed.
He said Pakistan would be made a welfare state by following the golden principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The RPO said that 23rd March 1940 was the turning point for the Muslims of subcontinent and Pakistan became into existence after a short span of seven years with organized struggle and the untiring efforts of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said Pakistan was achieved after offering a number of sacrifices. The DC, the CPO and MPs also highlighted the importance of the Pakistan Day. Later, the commissioner, the RPO, the DC and CPO Ashfaq Ahmad Khan visited police lines and laid wreaths on the monument of martyrs of police. A cultural program and flower show was also held at D-Ground Peoples Colony under the arrangement of PHA. A musical program was also arranged by Faisalabad Arts Council at Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium. Similarly, various political, social, business, educational and other organisations arranged different events to highlight the importance of the day.
