Suspect arrested in girl’s murder case

SAHIWAL: Chichawatni City police arrested a suspect on Monday for his involvement in the killing of a 20-year-old gypsy girl on Saturday afternoon.

Inspector Muhammad Amin told Dawn that prime suspect Saeed Ansari had been arrested from village 6/14-L of Chichawatni, while his younger brother Imran Ansari, the other suspect in the case, was still at large.

Sadiq Colony-resident Bilqees would often stop Saeed from teasing her and passing derogatory remarks at her while she returned from the bazaar.

On Saturday morning, Imran and Bilqees had an argument while she was returning home. Later, Imran along with Saeed and two unidentified men stormed into Bilquees’s house and grabbed her while she was washing clothes in the courtyard. Both Saeed asked Imran allegedly stabbed her in the neck, chest and head.

Bilqees’s father told police that Saeed was carrying an axe and Imran a knife. The assailants managed to escape from the scene, while Bilqees received multiple wounds. Rescue 1122 had shifted a critically injured Bilqees to the Chichawatni THQ Hospital from where she was referred to the Sahiwal DHQ Teaching Hospital, but she died on Sunday noon. Police shifted her body to the THQ hospital.

Inspector Amin said police registered a first information report against Imran, his elder brother Saeed and two unidentified men under Section 324 of the PPC and later added Section 302 to it.
