Behind bars: Police arrest ‘wanted’ robber during raid

SARGODHA: Police claimed to have arrested a ‘wanted’ robber during a raid in Sargodha on Friday.

A Midh Ranjha police station official told Express News that the force received a tip-off that a ‘wanted’ robber, belonging to a notorious criminal gang, was present in the area. He added that the police team immediately raided the hideout and apprehended the culprit identified as Ansar Abbas, a resident of Chak No 6.

He said that the police also seized a 30-bore pistol, Rs50,000 and other valuables from the possession of the accused. The official pointed out that the culprit used to commit robberies in different areas.

He mentioned that two accomplices of the suspect, identified as Ahsanullah and Qasim Ali, were apprehended a few days ago.

Police apprehend gang of six robbers

He revealed that the accused was wanted by the police in several robbery cases. He said the suspect was a habitual criminal.

Meanwhile, Midh Ranjha police have registered a case against the culprit and opened an investigation.

On January 9, the Sargodha police arrested six robbers during different raids in the city. The police force received a tip-off that six robbers, belonging to a notorious criminal gang, were present in different areas across the town. The police team immediately conducted raids and nabbed the culprits identified as Fayyaz Ahmed, Ghulam Abbas, Kamran, Shafaqat, Ansar Abbas and Ramzan.

A large quantity of arms, ammunition, drugs and other valuables were seized from the possession of these outlaws. The police said that the gang used to commit robberies at gunpoint in different areas.

The accused were wanted by police in several criminal cases of a heinous nature.
