Faith healer charged with rape attempt

GUJRANWALA: A faith healer was booked on charge of attempted rape of a teenage girl in Khyali Shahpur locality of Gujranwala on Sunday.

The 17-year-old girl, a resident of Faisal Colony and student of 1st year, fell unconscious on Saturday. Her mother invited a faith healer for her treatment and he took the girl to a separate room and locked it from inside. After a while, the girl’s family heard her shouting and broke open the door. They found the faith healer trying to rape her. When they tried to catch him, he took out a gun and fled from the scene. Tatleyali police registered case against him.

ARRESTED: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested five proclaimed human smugglers.

FIA Deputy Director Mufakhar Adeel told Dawn the accused Muhammad Imtiaz, Tariq, Bashir, Nasir and Saqib were wanted for five years for involvement in sending people to Turkey and Greece illegally. An FIA team raided their hideouts and arrested them.

XMAS: The regional police unveiled a security plan for Christmas.

Regional Police Officer (PPO) Tariq Abbas Qureshi and City Police Officer Dr Moeen Masood told Dawn more than 5,000 policeman would provide 823 Christian community programmes with security. There would be a ban on display of arms and loudspeakers while walk-through gates and metal detectors would be installed in churches.
