Punjab Police on high alert for Muharram

As Muharram is approaching, inspector general Punjab directed additional IG Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to expedite the activity of search, sweep and combing operations and that the teams of CTD should have strict vigilance over defunct organisations in order to maintain law and order.

IGP Punjab Dr Syed Kaleem Imam applauded the team of CTD for foiling plan of terrorism in Gujranwala. After a successful intelligence based operation, the CTD team of Gujranwala arrested two terrorists of Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Nawab Chowk, Grand Trunk Road, Gujranwala.

He said that teams of CTD should remain on high alert and continue intelligence based operations against anti-social elements of society so that the objectives of terrorists may be foiled. According to the details, Gujranwala CTD conducted intelligence based operations and halted plan of defunct organisations like TTP. Muhammad Asif and Wali Muhammad are the arrested terrorists from whom two hand grenades have been recovered.

During the initial investigation, the terrorists revealed that they had planned to target sensitive installations and law enforcement institutions.

The case of this incident has been registered at CTD police station Gujranwala and further investigations have been started.

It is hereby worth mentioning that on the special directions of IG Punjab, CTD is conducting and combing intelligence based operations on a daily basis so that the wealth and property of people may be secured.

Furthermore, IG Punjab praised Deputy Inspector General Operations Shahzad Akbar for arresting shopkeepers who tortured women on allegations of theft. IG Punjab directed DIG operations Lahore that strict legal action should be taken after investigating all the incident of torture and said that no citizen is allowed to take law in hands.
